American Ground Screw distributor · Intown & metro Atlanta · Serving all Georgia

The full product line, stocked locally.

Galvanized ground screws, flanges, brackets and drive equipment from American Ground Screw — the first ICC-certified ground screw foundation product. Held in Decatur, so a contractor anywhere in metro Atlanta is not waiting on a truck from Iowa, and stock ships to the rest of Georgia.

The line

Four families, chosen by how the structure connects.

Size follows the load; family follows the connection. An open-top screw takes a pipe or an insertable flange. A welded-flange screw arrives with the plate already on it. Below each table is what it is for.

Model 3 — fixed length, open top

Three welded nuts with set bolts. Takes a pipe directly, or any insertable flange below. The workhorse for decks, solar racking and post-and-beam framing.

Fixed length with welded flanges

The plate is welded on at the factory. For structures and building products that already have a base or mounting plate to bolt down.

Extendable Coming 2026

For poor soils or deep frost lines, where one screw cannot reach competent ground. A proprietary hexagonal coupling makes the joint stronger and the connection to the drive head easier to make and break.

  • IMXL320 — 3″ × 79″ threaded screw lead, .12″ wall, 35″ thread
  • IMXE310 — 3″ × 39″ extension, .12″ wall
  • 3″ leads at 31.5″ / 49″ / 61″ and extensions at 20″ / 39″ / 59″ non-ICC
  • 4.5″ leads at 47″ / 79″ and extensions at 39″ / 59″ / 79″ non-ICC

Steel is Q355, ASTM A572 Grade 50 equivalent. Sizes marked non-ICC fall outside the ESR-4226 listing — ask before specifying one where the listing is the reason a plan reviewer approved it.

Custom

AGS engineers screws to an application when the stock line does not cover it. Useful on engineered jobs where a structural engineer has already fixed the geometry.

Connections

Eight insertable stock flanges.

A flange drops into an open-top screw and gives you something to bolt to — a post, a beam, a column, a rail. Two of them are beam-specific and fit the 3″ screw only.

Sizing

Allowable capacity, and how deep it has to go.

Two tables decide most jobs. The first sets how many screws a load needs; the second sets how long they have to be so frost cannot lift them. Both come from the ICC-certified data for Model 3 and welded-flange screws.

4.5″ (114mm)3,4009,6444,97712,8233,5194,394

Silty sand is classified at a blow count of 13; sandy clay at a blow count of 25 with a plasticity index of 30. Lateral load is applied 12 inches above the ground surface. Capacity on a given site depends on screw size, screw count, soil and installation depth — these figures size a job, they do not replace a stamped design.

38 – 53″79″ minimum
54 – 55″81″ minimum

Assumes installation to 3 inches above grade. Ground screws resist frost heave when enough thread length sits below the frost line. Metro Atlanta frost depths sit at the shallow end of these tables, which is why the 63″ screw covers most residential work here.

Drive equipment

Low speed, high torque — four ways to turn steel.

Ground screws need low-speed, high-torque drive. Which machine depends on screw diameter and what can physically reach the spot. Smaller household screws can go in by hand with a bar.

What we do

Supply, sizing, and getting them in the ground.

Most of what a contractor needs from a distributor is not the box. It is knowing which screw, how many, and whether the site will take them.

Supply

Stock on the shelf in Decatur

The two sizes that cover most residential work are held locally, with the rest of the line available to order direct from the manufacturer. Trade pricing for contractors, by the screw or by the pallet.

Sizing

Screw selection and count

Send the load, the span and the soil and we will come back with a size, a count and a layout to price against — using the ICC capacity data above, not a rule of thumb.

Permitting

Code and root-zone documentation

ESR-4226 is what a plan reviewer wants to see, and the no-excavation method is what an arborist wants to see inside a critical root zone. We supply both.

Field

Installation

Screws driven to rated depth across intown and metro Atlanta — drive, level and hand off ready to frame. Screws are loadable immediately, so the trade behind us starts the same day.

Removal

Temporary and removable installs

Screws come back out by turning them counterclockwise, and go back in elsewhere. For staging, events, site offices, walkways and anything that has to leave no trace.

Trade

Working behind another contractor

We set the footings and get off the site. Deck builders, ADU builders, fence crews and solar installers keep their own scope and their own customer.

What the steel is held to.
